Flush mounted headlights, fewer grill slats and an outside fuel filler were some of the notable differences in the two models. There were also a number of mechanical options available as this Jeep was still marketed as a "work vehicle" especially for farms, ranches and construction work. Some options were included to utilize farming and work implements such as a harrow, draw-bar, hydraulic lift, plow, mower, winch, snow plow, hoist, on board welder, air compressor, and generator. A PTO (Power Take-Off drive) was available front and rear which operated many of these implements. Other mechanical upgrades were added-on during the life of the CJ2A including some modifications/improvements to the tough Go-Devil engine and drive-train. Locking hubs and overdrives also evolved as new uses were identified for the little Jeep. The earlier 1945 and 1946 CJ2A's were given a column shift mechanism, but the trusty floor mounted stick shift returned by the middle of 1946. (These column shift CJ2A's are apparently quite the find for collectors). The Jeep CJ2A was produced into 1949 even as it's replacement, the CJ3A was also being built. The CJ2A's are highly sought after by collectors and restorers, however parts are becoming more and more difficult to come by... to bring these little civilian Jeeps back to original condition. Let's hope that more are found and restored to preserve these great American Icons for future generations to enjoy.

Mitsubishi 3000GT

Mitsubishi 3000GT
CARBARN | Mitsubishi 3000GTcars that have long had to fill the world sports car in this world, this car is very powerful because it is widely used by riders in Europe and Asia, want to know? The following report Japan's automotive design is usually driven by the pursuit of efficiency, agility and lightness. At the same time, however, there's a definite obsession with technology: making everything electronic, inventing neat new gadgets and generally providing complex answers to simple questions. For a perfect example of the latter philosophy, look no further than the Mitsubishi 3000GT.

Mitsubishi 3000GT
Arriving just in time for the early 1990s sports car revolution, the 3000GT showed up carrying a great big load of stuff, especially in top-line VR-4 trim. To wit: a 24-valve V6 with dual overhead camshafts and twin turbochargers. Electronically adjustable suspension. Four-wheel drive. Four-wheel steering. A limited-slip differential. Front and rear spoilers that extend at 50 mph and retract at 30. Even the exhaust note could be customized with the flip of a switch. Of all the above features, the twin turbos and all-wheel drive left the strongest impressions. Three-hundred horsepower let the 3000GT VR-4 run with the fastest sports cars of its day, and the security of four driven wheels put it at ease doing so. Strong grip, strong brakes and styling that turned heads for nine straight years rounded out the package. The Mitsubishi 3000GT, along with its Dodge counterpart, the Stealth, got respect.

Mitsubishi 3000GT
But Mitsubishi's full load of technology sure resulted in a full load of car. At 3,800 pounds, the 3000GT VR-4 significantly outweighed every competitor and had the most pronounced frontal weight bias. Many drivers also felt its steering and shifter were vague, and its chassis less connected than other sports cars'. Furthermore, no one seemed to find much value in most of the electronics, and no one over 6 feet tall could sit up straight. As a choice for a used sport coupe or convertible, the Mitsubishi 3000GT is either a poser or a serious performance car, with a wide gulf between the two. Base and SL models look flashy but don't provide performance matching their looks. In VR-4 guise, the 3000GT is a car with serious speed, style and several fun little toys. Just know that: 1) Fun little toys have a habit of breaking; and 2) Unless all-wheel drive is a strong preference, more satisfying '90s-era experiences await the discerning driver in the form of the BMW M3, Mazda RX-7 and Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo.

Mitsubishi 3000GT
The Mitsubishi 3000GT ran from 1991-'99 and came in three trim levels: base, SL and VR-4. The base and SL were front-wheel drive and were both initially powered by a 222-hp, 3.0-liter V6 that paired up to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The SL's upgrades consisted of antilock brakes, electronic adjustable shocks, a power driver seat and a handful of convenience features that varied by year. The VR-4 was in another league entirely, boasting all the previously mentioned performance upgrades and bigger 17-inch wheels. Unlike its rivals, Mitsubishi never offered an automatic with the turbo engine. The Mitsubishi 3000GT received steady changes over the years. After some across-the-board content upgrades for 1993 (such as standard leather for the VR-4), the first major freshening came in 1994. Reworked styling replaced the pop-up headlights with projector units and the interior gained a second airbag. Meanwhile, the VR-4 became an even stronger performer thanks to a boost from 300 to 320 hp, the addition of a 6th gear to the gearbox and upgraded brakes. In 1995, Mitsubishi expanded the line with the new 3000GT Spyder, a four-seat convertible available in SL and VR-4 trims. Featuring Mitsubishi's most elaborate electronic item yet, the Spyder had a power-retractable hardtop that could open or close in 19 seconds. At the time, it was one of the first modern production cars to feature such an item, though a high price and resultant slow sales limited the Spyder to a two-year run. In other news, the VR-4 gained 18-inch wheels for 1995, and from 1994-'96 Mitsubishi dropped the VR-4's adjustable exhaust and spoilers and its electronic suspension. Another face-lift in 1997 brought, among other things, a new St. Louis arch of a rear spoiler. In even worse news, the base 3000GT switched to a single-overhead-cam, 12-valve V6 with a decidedly measly 161 hp. The final changes were the addition of a sunroof on the SL and VR-4 for 1998 and yet another face-lift for 1999. For the driving enthusiast, the non-turbo 3000GTs are a bit of a letdown. By the mid-'90s, even the 222-hp 3000GT couldn't perform any better than some $10,000-cheaper family sedans, while the 161-hp 3000GT fared even more poorly. Still, the pre-'97 cars could serve as decent (and likely more reliable) alternatives to domestic-brand coupes like the Ford Mustang V6 or Chevrolet Camaro V6. Assuming one can be found in good condition, the real incentive to buy the Mitsubishi 3000GT is the VR-4. Though the basics remained intact throughout its run, models from 1994-'96 seem a little more desirable. The extra power and extra gear can't hurt, the more subtle rear spoiler doesn't impede visibility and the headroom-robbing sunroof was still optional. Also, the VR-4 Spyder deserves special mention as a true year-round sports car, with all-wheel-drive traction for winters, a retractable roof for summers and stronger performance than most any five-figure drop top of its day.

Mitsubishi ASX

Mitsubishi ASX
CARBARN | Mitsubishi ASX | stylish family car that is very special by the manufacturer Mitsubishi to serve and enhance people's needs, so you might want to create a family this is one solution. The following report

Mitsubishi ASX
Be in no doubt: buyers are snapping up the crossovers chiefly for the way they look. The ASX will appeal to you if Mitsubishi's nose does, but driving a swollen Lancer isn't our idea of urban chic. The ASX delivers a fairly anonymous experience from behind the wheel. The car doesn't emulate a hatchback's handling as well as some of its competitors, but it is competent nonetheless.

Mitsubishi ASX
We'll have to wait to drive the car in the UK to provide a definitive answer, but over smooth German roads the ASX's ride seemed reasonably well judged. Only the jolt from a very occasional pothole suggested there might be issues when the car crosses the channel.

Mitsubishi ASX
Expect the Mitsubishi to robustly deal with the daily abuse an average family will mete out, but don't expect it to look particularly good doing it. The interior is awash in plastic, and even though it's been moulded into the brand's current styling arrangement, some of its competitors do a better job of hiding their budget limitations.

Mitsubishi ASX
In return for its genuinely pokey performance, most buyers will probably accept the 1.8 DiD's lack of refinement. The 1.6-litre petrol engine isn't too far behind, but it does have to struggle by with half of the diesel's torque output.

Mitsubishi ASX
Like most crossovers, this is the ASX's trump card. Its comparatively long wheelbase and SUV roofline means it feels particularly spacious - perhaps even more so than its arch enemy, the Qashqai. The Mitsubishi should swallow an average family whole. You'll need to select the highest trim level if you want a sat-nav as standard, but if you do you'll get also get a Kenwood system thrown in, which should be a decent step up from Mitsubishi's mediocre standard unit.

Mitsubishi ASX
Neither engine should be particularly expensive to run. Mitsubishi claims the petrol will return 47mpg and the diesel 51mpg. The latter produces 145g/km CO2 placing it in VED band F, while the slightly cleaner petrol makes it into band E with 138g/km.Mitsubishi has priced the ASX to compete. Again the Qashqai is the benchmark, and the manufacturer has ensured that it enters the market with a lower price tag. However, buyers will need to be convinced by the ASX's higher performance as the 1.5dCI is cheaper than Mitsubishi's new diesel.

Mitsubishi ASX
Both the ASX's engines benefit from the addition of Mitsubishi's environmental package known as ClearTec. This includes automatic stop  go, electric power steering, regenerative braking system and low rolling resistance tyres.

Mazda RX 8

Mazda RX 8
CARBARN | Mazda RX 8 | one of the sports car that may be you crave, this car comes from the Japanese manufacturer, this concept is a sports car and is very suitable for young people who want to look more stylish and sports, want to know further information following its

Mazda RX 8
Mazda RX 8
Most people know that Mazda builds sporty cars. But for driving enthusiasts, it's the company's history of building sport coupes with lightweight rotary engines that sets it apart from the competition. The Mazda RX-8 is the latest of these coupes, and it's the only one with a four-door configuration. The heart of the Mazda RX-8 is its high-revving, 1.3-liter rotary engine called the Renesis. It's a made-up word: The "R" and the "e" stand for "Rotary engine," while "nesis" comes from the word "genesis." Odd name aside, the Renesis engine is an impressive bit of engineering: Unlike its forebears, it locates the exhaust ports on the side of each of the combustion chambers, rather than on the outer edge of the rotary housing. Sounds simple, but this one change allows for more power, higher fuel economy and lower emissions. Because of the engine's compact size, engineers were able to mount it farther back in the RX-8's chassis, giving the car a coveted 50/50 front/rear weight distribution. This, along with balanced suspension tuning, sharp steering and a svelte 3,000-pound curb weight, makes the rear-wheel-drive RX-8 one of the best-handling cars on the market. However, the car's power is a bit lacking; newer competitors provide considerably more oomph.
Mazda RX 8
The Mazda RX-8 is a four-seat coupe with a pair of rear-hinged "suicide" doors that ease access to the rear seats. Every RX-8 is powered by a 1.3-liter twin rotary engine, with an output that depends on the transmission. The six-speed manual version produces 232 horsepower at a stratospheric 9,000 rpm, and is capable of a 0-60 run in about 6 seconds. The six-speed automatic gets 212 hp and a redline of 7,500 rpm. All RX-8s have a rather paltry 152 pound-feet of torque, which means you have to hold the rotary engine on the boil to keep the car lively. Therefore, we'd suggest only buying an RX-8 with the manual. There are three trim levels available: Sport, Grand Touring and R3. Even the base car comes well equipped with 18-inch wheels, performance tires, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a six-speaker CD stereo with an auxiliary audio jack. The Grand Touring gets a limited-slip rear differential, automatic xenon headlights, a power driver seat, memory functions, heated seats, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, keyless ignition/entry, a Bose stereo, Bluetooth and a navigation system. The R3 is a high-performance variant packing 19-inch wheels, an aggressively tuned suspension, Recaro sport seats, exterior body modifications and some of the other trims' high-tech convenience features. Although the Mazda RX-8 has the look of a race-tuned sports car, its demeanor on the road is considerably more docile. Its ample grip through corners and solid feedback through the steering wheel make it an absolute riot on a serpentine road, yet a compliant ride means that it won't beat you up on the daily commute. The rotary engine requires high engine speeds to make serious power, but the delivery is virtually vibration-free and noise levels are subdued. If you like a smooth engine (in feel, sound and delivery), the RX-8's is second to none. Inside, the RX-8's innovative two-person backseat and suicide half-doors provide the sort of practicality no other sport coupe can match. Provided they're shorter than 6 feet tall, those seated in the back will find supportive seating and ample room. Overall, the RX-8 is one of the best examples of a car that's both fun to drive and very livable on a day-to-day basis. Just be prepared to pay at the pump, as the high-revving rotary swills fuel like an SUV.

Mazda RX 8
Mazda RX 8
Introduced for 2004, the Mazda RX-8 heralded the return of the rotary-powered sports car to the United States after a near decade-long hiatus. Until 2008, it featured a slightly different exterior design than the present car, while features were gradually added over the years. Initially, the RX-8's automatic transmission was a four-speed unit. We'd avoid this car in favor of the six-speed automatic with paddle shifters available for 2006 and later (although we always recommend the manual first). The Shinka Package (Japanese for "evolution") was offered for '06 and included an aggressively tuned suspension, unique 18-inch wheels, leather/faux suede seating and a few other luxury niceties. The next year, this package was replaced by the 40th Anniversary Special Edition, which offered a special gray exterior, red leather seats, different 18-inch alloy wheels, a firmer suspension and the obligatory badges. The '08 model year also saw the navigation system restricted to the Grand Touring model. The biggest changes came for 2009. The exterior was given a more aggressive face with a much wider grille, and many other more subtle changes. The interior was also given a few minor adjustments here and there. Mostly, the features list expanded at this time. No longer were 16-inch wheels fitted to the base car -- there were 18s across the board -- and items like Bluetooth and an auxiliary audio jack were added to the options list. A much improved touchscreen navigation system replaced the old pop-up unit controlled by console-mounted buttons. This was also the first year for the Mazda RX-8 R3. For 2010, the Touring model, which previously slotted in between the Sport and Grand Touring, was discontinued.

Engines
The Audi A7 Sportback will hit the market with four direct-injection V6 engines: two gasoline units and two diesels. Ranging from 150 to 220 kW (204 to 300 hp), the engines propel the large five-door coupe smoothly and powerfully, with astonishing efficiency. The 3.0 TDI multitronic with front-wheel drive and 150 kW (204 hp) consumes on average just 5.3 liters of fuel per 100 km (44.38 US mpg), corresponding to CO2 emissions of just 139 g per km (223.70 g/mile). No competitor in this class can boast figures this low. All engines use Audi’s innovative thermal management system, a recuperation system and a start-stop system.

Audi has thoroughly revised the two gasoline engines, the 2.8 FSI and the 3.0 TFSI, with respect to internal friction and thermal management. The engines quickly come up to operating temperature following a cold start. A separate heat exchanger is used to also bring the transmission up to temperature. The 2.8 FSI has an additional efficiency technology on board – the Audi valvelift system varies the stroke of the intake valves as needed. This enables the engine to breathe with significantly reduced throttle losses in many partial-load ranges, boosting torque and reducing fuel consumption.

The 2.8 FSI produces 150 kW (204 hp) and 280 Nm (206.52 lb-ft) of torque at 5,250 rpm. The torque is available from 3,000 to 5,000 rpm. Audi pairs this engine with the S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. The A7 Sportback 2.8 FSI quattro sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 8.3 seconds and has a top speed of 235 km/h (146.02 mph). It consumes just 8.0 liters of fuel per 100 km (29.40 US mpg) on average, which corresponds to only 187 grams of CO2/km (300.95 g/mile).

With the top gasoline engine, the 3.0 TFSI, a supercharger compresses the intake air for improved efficiency and performance. The three-liter V6 produces 220 kW (300 hp) between 5,250 and 6,500 rpm, and delivers 440 Nm (324.53 lb-ft) of torque between 2,900 and 4,500 rpm. The supercharged engine, which in Europe is mated to the S tronic and the quattro powertrain, gives the five-door coupe the performance of a sports car.

The standard sprint takes just 5.6 seconds, and top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155.34 mph). Standard fuel consumption is just 8.2 liters per 100 km (28.68 US mpg), corresponding to 190 grams CO2 per km (305.78 g/mile).
The 3.0 TDI is available in two versions. The more powerful version of the big diesel, which has been completely redesigned, produces 180 kW (245 hp) between 4,000 and 4,500 rpm and 500 Nm (368.78 lb-ft) of torque between 1,400 and 3,250 rpm. The S tronic and quattro all-wheel drive are also standard here. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) takes 6.5 seconds and top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155.34 mph). Efficiency is impressive: just 6.0 liters of fuel per 100 km (39.20 US mpg) on average, which corresponds to only 158 grams of CO2/km (254.28 g/mile).

The second version of the 3.0 TDI, which will follow somewhat later, does even better in this discipline. It produces 150 kW (204 hp) between 3,750 and 4,500 rpm. With front-wheel drive and the stepless multitronic automatic transmission, it really flaunts its efficiency: 139 grams CO2 per km (223.70 g/mile) and an average fuel consumption of 5.3 liters per 100 km (44.38 US mpg) are groundbreaking figures. With the new Efficiency TDI, the front-wheel drive A7 Sportback accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 8.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 234 km/h (145.40 mph).

With the 3.0 TDI with 150 kW (204 hp), the timing of the cam shafts, the turbocharger and the common rail system with an injection pressure of 2,000 bar have been designed specifically for low fuel consumption. With front-wheel drive, the V6 diesel produces 400 Nm (295.02 lb-ft) of torque. The power is continuously available between 1,250 and 3,500 rpm. With quattro all-wheel drive, it is 450 Nm (331.90 lb-ft) of torque that is available between 1,250 and 3,500 rpm.

The Mazda RX-8 hit the global market with a serious bang. The RX-8 has won more than 50 global awards since its release including 2003 RJC Car of the Year in Japan Australia's Wheels magazine's Car of the Year for 2003, 2003 International Engine of the Year, 2004 Singapore Car of the Year, the 2004 U.S. Best Sports Car and UK Car of the Year 2004. It was also named on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 2004, 2005, and 2006. All together, Mazda has sold nearly 167,000 RX-8s around the world.
Mazda will further the evolution of the four-door, four-seater sports coupe, giving RX-8 a refreshed exterior and interior design, enhanced performance and a new R3 sport package for the ultimate driving enthusiast. Unchanged is the core of the RX-8 a high-powered, lightweight and perfectly balanced machine powered by the world-renowned twin-rotor RENESIS rotary engine.

Dating back to the Cosmo Sport released in 1967, every sports car ever developed by Mazda has had the same fundamental mission to provide car lovers with a vehicle thats fun-to-drive, exciting to look at and easy to own, said Tetsu Nakazawa, Mazda North American Operations RX-8 vehicle line manager. The 2009 RX-8 embodies that mission, conveying the unique and distinctive Mazda brand DNA to the fullest.

To enhance the highly successful RX-8, Mazda engineers focused on innovation in three key areas for the 2009 RX-8: styling, performance and packaging. The enhancements made to RX-8s exterior, interior, packaging and performance takes it to a whole new level of visual and driving excitement, remarked Nakazawa.
